Ann Beheler has been in the Information Technology industry for over 30 years, and she is now responsible for Emerging Technology grants at Collin College. In that capacity she leads the National Information, Security, and Geospatial Technologies Consortium, an almost $20 million DOL TAACCCT grant and the National Convergence Technology Center, a $4.4 million National Science Foundation grant. Ann has corporate experience, has led her own consulting firm, has created and taught in one of the first networking degree programs in Texas, and has previously managed IT-related divisions and grants ranging $1-$20 million in community colleges in Texas and California. Prior to her current position, she was Vice President of Academic Affairs for Porterville College, responsible for all instruction at the college, and prior that she was a Dean at both Orange Coast College in California and at Collin College. Among other things, Ann is known for effectively bringing together business and industry using a streamlined process to identify with them the knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSAs) they predict will be needed by “right-skilled” job candidates in the future. She then works with faculty to align curriculum such that those who complete certificates and degrees in IT have the knowledge, skills, and abilities that will make them readily employable in high-paying IT positions. Ann holds a PhD in Community College Leadership from Walden University, a MS in Computer Science from Florida Institute of Technology, and a BS in Math from Oklahoma State University.

William Saichek is a Professor of Computer Science and Information Systems at Orange Coast College in Costa Mesa, California. He has worked in the computer industry since 1976 and has been a professor teaching networking, communications, operations and security classes since 1991, most recently at Orange Coast College in Costa Mesa California. Bill has also taught networking and communications for Chapman University, El Camino College and Long Beach City College. He holds a Bachelor’s and Master’s of Science degrees in Computer Science from the University of California, Irvine and holds several networking certifications. Bill maintains a consulting agency, in which he designs, installs and maintains networks and communications environments for small to medium sized organizations in Southern California. He is currently a partner on the National Convergence Technology Center’s Leadership Team.

David Keathly received the B.S. and M.S. degrees in Electrical from Oklahoma State University and is a PhD Candidate at the University of North Texas. After 20 years of experience in developing military and commercial products, including a patent in image processing, as well as adjunct faculty assignments at Collin County Community College and the UT-Dallas, he joined the faculty in Computer Science and Engineering at the University of North Texas as a Lecturer and Undergraduate Advisor in the Fall of 2004. He is now a Senior Lecturer in the same department. He was an SGA Honors Professor in 2005 and has received the Outstanding Student Advisor award from the Student Life Office, and a Meritorious Service Award from the College of Engineering Industrial Advisory Council. David is a Senior Member of the IEEE and is the faculty advisor for the IEEE Computer Society Student Chapter, the UNT Robotics Society and the UNT Programming Teams, in addition to his involvement with various recruiting and retention programs. David is also Co-Director of the RoboCamp summer program for middle and high school students. He is also a Co-PI Convergence Technology Center, an NSF program headquartered at Collin College in Frisco, TX.

Eliazar Martinez is a native Texan and grew up in San Angelo, Texas. After high school, Eliazar joined the U.S. Navy for six years and served as a Missile Technician on board two nuclear powered submarines, USS John Marshall and Ethan Allen. It was during his tour in the Navy that he was introduced to Education, Electronics and Computers. Eliazar attended Angelo State University where he earned his Bachelor's in Business. After graduating from college he moved to the Dallas, Texas, where he worked for the State of Texas as Claims Representative and the Federal Government as a Contract Specialist. Eliazar joined the U.S. Navel Reserves where he retired after completing 26 years of service, both in active and reserve duty. In Dallas, Eliazar went back to school and received his MBA and completed eighteen hours in Information Technology. Eliazar was hired by the Dallas County Community College in 1991 and has held several positions from Career Counselor, Small Business Coordinator, Network Specialist Support, Network Administrator and Adjunct and Full-Time Instructor. Presently Eliazar is teaching as a Full-Time instructor at El Centro College where he teaches classes in Cisco – (CCNA, CCNP, VoIP, Security and Wireless), Linux, Network +, A+, Microsoft Office and several on line security classes. Eliazar supports a Collin County Community College Convergence Grant as a Co-PI in support of the Green IT initiative , Hispanic Recruitment, Mentoring Program and Curriculum Development.

Elizabeth Halweg is employed by Fox Valley Technical College in Appleton Wisconsin. The college provides high quality learning experiences to enhance the lives of the students and the economic development of Northeast Wisconsin. Elizabeth holds a MS degree from the University of Wisconsin-Stout in Vocational and Technical Education and a BS degree from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire in Management Information Systems. After 20 years of work experience in the Telecommunications field, she is now an instructor of Information Technology at Fox Valley Technical College and has been there since August of 2000. As a strong proponent of STEM education, Elizabeth started the GirlTech summer camp at Fox Valley Technical College to expose young girls to STEM technologies. In 2008, Elizabeth became involved with the Converged Technology Center as a Mentored College and now supports the National CTC as a Converged College Network (CCN) board member and Co-PI on the National CTC grant. Elizabeth is committed to meeting established targeted goals in expansion of the CCN to 60 members and the virtual delivery of high-demand converged technology courses.

Ernest (Ernie) Friend is employed by Florida State College at Jacksonville, a values-driven institution of higher education committed to ensuring that every student has an extraordinarily positive overall experience headquartered in Jacksonville, FL. The college provides optimal access to high quality, affordable and relevant degree, career and community education to enhance the lives of our students and the economic development of Northeast Florida. Ernie holds a B.S. degree in Electronics Management from Southern Illinois University. He has more than 25 years of Information Technology management and academic experience in the military and with Florida State College at Jacksonville (FSCJ). Since 1994, working at FSCJ he has been involved in many phases of computer networking infrastructure management and design. At the college he manages a two year college credit networking degree with about 2000 students. The two year degree has specializations in CCNA, CCNP, Voice, Security, Virtualization, and Open Source Operating Systems. In addition he created and manages a BAS in Computer Networking degree with about 650 students. He has created partnership with some of the biggest names in I.T. including Cisco, EMC, VMware, Citrix, Redhat, and others. He has considerable experience in working with the regional business community creating new and innovative programs that address the needs of the regional I.T. workforce.

Jon H. Hardesty, Ph.D. is the Dean for Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics at the Preston Ridge Campus of Collin College in Frisco, Texas. In this role he has managerial responsibilities for the academic programs in Mathematics and Natural Sciences at the Preston Ridge campus, and for the programs in Engineering and Technology across the entire district. Jon possesses a diverse employment background that includes two postdoctoral fellowships, two years with a merchant bank in which he was instrumental in assisting with business plan development and funding for a startup manufacturing firm, nearly five years as a faculty member teaching chemistry, and he has served in academic administration at Collin College since January 2010. He holds a B.S. in Chemistry from Texas State University-San Marcos where he undertook undergraduate research in polymer science, a Ph.D. in Chemistry from the University of Houston where his dissertation research centered upon computational chemistry, and an M.B.A. in Finance from the Edwin L. Cox School of Business at Southern Methodist University.

Karl Dietrich is in his 11th year as a faculty member at Lansing Community College. He began his career at LCC as the Instructor/Program Coordinator for the local Computer Support ISD dual-enrolled students. Currently Karl now works full-time in the CIT program at main campus and teaches courses in CompTIA A+ and Network+ certification, and Wireless Networking and Security. Karl was appointed by the Dean to the position of Lead Faculty during the 2009-2010 academic year. Karl became involved with the Convergence Technology Center after hearing a presentation at the League for Innovation Conference in Fall 2006. Shortly thereafter, Lansing Community College quickly signed on to become one of the early Mentored College participants. Karl has since been an active supporter of the CTC and is currently a member of the Convergence College Network’s Leadership Team. Before starting at LCC, Karl worked several years in the IT industry and held positions including Computer Lab Technician, Computer Operator, COBOL programmer, PC/Network Specialist, Network Administrator, and Senior Help Desk Analyst. Karl resides in Durand, Michigan with his wife Rhonda and has two adult children and two grandchildren.

Dr. Timur Mirzoev is an Assistant Professor at Georgia Southern University, where he is also the university’s coordinator of the International VMware IT Academy Center and EMC Academic Alliance. Prior to that, Timur was a Doctoral Fellow at Indiana State University, where he also worked for many years as a Microcomputer Support Consultant. Timur also has experience overseas as a Computer Network Administrator for UTIP&N in Russia. Timur is the first professor internationally to receive Certified VMware Instructor status and he is currently a VMware IT Academy Advisory Board Member. Timur holds a PhD in Technology Management and a MS in Electronics & Computer Technology, both from Indiana State University. He also received an MBA and BA of Accounting & Audit from Kabardino-Balkarian State University in Russia. His BA Business Administration is from the University of Mississippi. His articles have been published in, among others, the Journal of Industrial Technology and the International Journal of Engineering Research and Innovation.

Heather O’Neil joined Collin College in 2012 as the Administrative Assistant for the National Convergence Technology Center, where she provides key operational support to the grant’s Principal Investigator and to the Director of the CTC. Prior to Collin College, Heather worked at America’s InfoMart, Inc., a leading property maintenance company, as Business Development and Marketing Manager. There, she was responsible for creating and executing new business and marketing strategies, developing new client relationships, maintaining existing client relationships, and supervising corporate productivity. Throughout her career, Heather’s expertise has been statistics and data collection, which includes inventory management, accounting audits, and productivity reports. Heather has also worked as a substitute teacher in McKinney, Texas. She holds a BA in Psychology from Pittsburg State University and recently completed a program at Alternative Certification for Teachers, accredited by the Texas Education Agency State Board for Educator Certification. Heather is mother to her 3-year-old daughter.

Helen Sullivan has been Director of the Convergence Technology Center, the ATE National Center funded by a grant from the National Science Foundation, for the past eight years at Collin College in Frisco, TX. She was the director on two prior NSF-funded project grants: The North Texas Regional Technology Consortium, and Advancing Careers in Technology and Science. Helen holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in mathematics with a concentration in technical writing from the University of Texas at Austin. She has done graduate work in journalism at the University of North Texas and has completed a certificate series in Project Management at Collin. She has taken mediation training fulfilling the statutory requirement for mediator certification in the state of Texas. She is currently a student in the MLS graduate program at Southern Methodist University, with a concentration on communication, media and technology. She has over 25 years project and program management experience, including as Director of Documentation and Training at Nortel, where her organization provided support for 64 network-based telecom projects. Her previous career in journalism netted awards from the Associated Press, Texas Press Women, Northeast Texas Press Association and four School Bell Awards from the Texas State Teachers Association. She is a conference speaker and facilitator.

Jennifer McGarvey is the Web Communications Editor for the National Convergence Technology Center. She is responsible for updating and maintaining the center’s webpages, social media outlets, and online resources. This includes filming and photographing all CTC special events. Before transferring to the CTC in October 2012, Jennifer worked at Collin College’s Small Business Development Center where she developed her web design and online marketing skills by creating and maintaining the web presence and marketing strategies for the Center. She also organized and promoted the Center’s free training events and worked with small business owners on their own social media and web marketing strategies. Jennifer holds a BFA in Film & Animation with a concentration in 3D Animation from Rochester Institute of Technology in New York. She also has an AAS in Art from Onondaga Community College in Syracuse, New York. Jennifer continues to take many professional development courses at Collin College and recently completed a web development certificate series through the Collin’s online Ed2Go program.

Mark Dempsey joined Collin College in 2012 as program manager for the National Convergence Technology Center. In his current position, he plans and manages the CTC’s special programs and events as well as provides administrative and operational support to the CTC Director. Prior to Collin College, Mark worked for eight years at UCLA Extension, the continuing education division of UCLA. There, he worked first as an assistant to the director of UCLA Extension's Entertainment Studies & Performing Arts department, helping coordinate academic projects and special events, and later as a program representative, managing domestic and international custom-designed seminar programs. For several years during his tenure at UCLA Extension, Mark also served as a co-instructor for the capstone online class "The Business of Hollywood," which employed a unique role-playing element to explore strategies of film financing and negotiation. Before joining UCLA Extension, Mark was a development executive at an independent feature film production company, Echo Lake Productions. He has also worked as a freelance script analyst for Silver Pictures. Mark holds a BA in Cinema from Southern Methodist University and an MFA from Loyola Marymount University.
